Ever since the Internet’s inception so many decades ago, the concept of privacy has been an issue. Fortunately, there are plenty of things that keep the government and outside, malevolent parties from reading your emails or knowing your search history. Then came SOPA and CISPA. While the Stop Online Piracy Act has been knocked down for the time being, the Cyber Intelligence and Sharing Protection Act has passed the House of Representatives. Twice. It hasn’t made it past the Senate or White House, but the bill is still alive and kicking. What Is CISPA? The Cybersecurity and Information Sharing Act is designed to allow government agencies and private companies to share any customer data that may relate to a potential cybersecurity threat. It’s a means of combating hacking, which is quickly becoming the terrorism of the digital age. It sounds beneficial, right?
