Social media marketing continues to be dominated by Facebook, and there hasn’t been any sign of decline since it passed the 1 billion mark in 2012. Google+ recently outranked Twitter; nevertheless both sites are still strong contenders for the title with their steady growth. Then there’s LinkedIn and the new kid on the block, Pinterest. YouTube is more like in a different league, but definitely plays a huge role in the social media scene.

So where do we put Instagram amongst all this? For others, the question actually goes this way: should Instagram even be a part of all this?

The answer is yes. And here’s why.

The visual effect. Images create a different reaction from people compared to just reading plain text. They appeal to emotion, and they clearly present whatever idea that one wishes to send across. This trend is strongly manifested in Facebook, where photos create 39% more interaction among viewers, compared to posts without photos.
